This is a magnificent Black Forest automata clock. It just had a full restoration and is now in perfect working order.

The clock was made by the Furtwangen firm, Gordian Hettich Sohn c. 1890-1900. The robust brass plate movement is signed “GHS”.

On the top of the hour the double doors are opened and the 12 Apostles cross the balcony in the cathedral from one door to the other. While the automata is in action the cathedral bells are sounded on three gongs. The clock has a night shutoff that allows the automata and strike to be silenced.

The case is constructed in oak in the form of a cathedral. It measures over 3 feet in height.

The apostle clock is a Black Forest clocks that is highly collectible, they are very difficult to find exceptionally in this condition.
